Filming gets off to a good start… everyone arrives on time and we stay on schedule. It’s when Nick leans on the somewhat unstable mortuary slab that everything goes awry, mainly because by doing so he destroyed it. After giving him a slap, we manage to finish the day’s shoot. Total time: approximately three and a half hours. Editing goes long into the night, but by the morning, the first five and a half minutes are fully completed.

12th May, 2004 – Day 2

My mum really appreciates today’s schedule when I take over the kitchen for 45 minutes whilst shooting the opening scenes with Jordana. Back down in the cellar, I’ve still not got round to repairing the table, so we try to shoot around it. Vicky particularly relishes the role of Chief Blood Chucker when she has to throw a Yorkie ice cream tub of maple syrup in my face. Filming comes to a somewhat sticky but quite amusing conclusion, around three hours after we began. Again, editing continues through the night.

17th May, 2004

I take a look at the shirt worn in the previous shoot’s maple syrup escapade. The shirt has solidified and is unwearable. I panic.

18th May, 2004

Repair and re-enforce the slab.

19th May, 2004 – Day 3

I manage to acquire a new shirt from a charity shop merely hours before shooting begins. However, some people, not naming names (Vicky), sleep in and filming is delayed by a couple of hours. We eventually get back to the set and the race is on. I have a lot of dialogue to spew and very little time to spew in, coupled with a fairly large effects sequence. Patience wears thin with several crewmembers on several occasions. Luckily, the sequence is completed on schedule, taking around two hours to shoot. Nighttime editing occurs.

30/31st May, 2004

Mum spends the weekend clearing out my room, ashamed by the “sh*t-tip” it’s become. In the process, she throws out the polystyrene I had been planning to use for the Mormon slapstick sequence. I am angry (but not moist) and have to resort back to the original storyboards.

1st June, 2004

Al comes over post dusk, and we shoot the ending sequence, employing two fog machines and one redhead. It looks impressive, except for the fact it took about two and a half longer than I expected it would. We finish just after midnight.

3rd June, 2004 – Day 4

First day of Mormon activity. Not ever, just in this movie. Again, mum appreciates the whole taking over the living room element. Of course, thanks to her unwanted meddling, I have substantially less polystyrene in this scene, so it’s tough on her. A particular highlight of today’s shoot was Nick’s pleas to not get too messy, followed by the ritual tipping of washing up liquid, maple syrup and soggy bog roll on his torso. Looks really mint though. Al’s flobbling is second to none. This evening I edit both today’s footage and the stuff from Tuesday.

4th June, 2004 – 5th and Final Day

Despite having over twice as many shots to complete today than on any other day, we start perhaps the latest we’ve ever started. However, shooting runs very smoothly and, apart from the odd exploding light, completes the schedule without a hitch. Again, Nick mainly takes the brunt of the damage with a scratched ear (courtesy of me, whoops) and a bruised elbow, not to mention ego. Editing goes on throughout the night and the film is complete!

7th June, 2004

I try to pimp Angry and Moist to Kevin Smith whilst attending his Q and A gig in London. However, time constraints and his disdain for the British press (specifically the 3AM Girls) means he’ll be jetting off immediately after the session. It’s a harsh world.

8th – 17th June, 2004

I continue to tweak little bits of footage here and there. Still think the electrocution shot is a bit turd, but the focus group seemed to like it.

23rd June, 2004

The film has it's world cinematic premiere at Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds. It goes down a treat. There is much rejoicing, followed by alcohol consumption.

27th June, 2004

The electrocution shot is redone and is now of satisfactory quality. More rejoicing, but not as much alcohol. I am now 100% pleased with how the film looks. Now, it's just the sound...

April 2006

The film now has a complete score, courtesy of Damian McDonald, and the sound has indeed been much improved with added effects and a choir of zombie moans, all of which are performed by yours truly.
